[vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content”][vc_column width=”2\/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1461842430147{margin-left: 80px !important;}”][vc_column_text el_class=”justified”]The main objective of the ITEA 2 Single\u00a0European Mobile Services Area (SEMOSA)\u00a0project was to provide an open innovation\u00a0platform and tools for the creation of mobile\u00a0applications that support technologies\u00a0such as Near Field Communication (NFC),\u00a0seamless integration of multiple secure\u00a0domains and interoperability of services\u00a0such as payments at the European level. It\u00a0was geared to responding to the needs of\u00a0users, developers and third parties.<\/p>\n

\"semosa\"<\/p>\n

PROJECT FRAMEWORK<\/p>\n

A simple SEMOSA architecture was developed\u00a0that included a web-based SEMOSA Model\u00a0Driven Development tool mock-up (with a\u00a0domain-specific language editor) to design\u00a0SEMOSA based applications. In addition,\u00a0four basic profile types were defined and\u00a0a SEMOSA library created including the\u00a0SEMOSA API (the set of abstract and interface\u00a0objects and classes, for both the core and the\u00a0customer profiles) and the SEMOSA Library\u00a0Core (which implements the basics of the\u00a0SEMOSA API). Finally, a reusable reference\u00a0architecture aimed not only to accelerate time\u00a0to market for mobile applications but also\u00a0targeted solutions that are simple, low-cost,\u00a0appropriate and easily replicable for trusted\u00a0mobile services.<\/p>\n

OPEN PLATFORM<\/p>\n

SEMOSA developed an open platform\u00a0application programming interface, or API, to\u00a0enable companies to develop applications and\u00a0services independently as well as contribute to\u00a0enriching the mobile services landscape. It also\u00a0defined common interfaces of how ASPs can\u00a0be connected to related services and entities,\u00a0incorporating some of the interfaces and\u00a0protocols in the open platform API and others\u00a0to third parties to develop SEMOSA-compliant\u00a0components. SEMOSA concentrated on two\u00a0key trusted services, payment (for general\u00a0acceptance) and mobile ID (the need for\u00a0authentication required by many applications).<\/p>\n

INNOVATION<\/p>\n

The project\u2019s major innovations derived\u00a0from the combination of a domain-driven\u00a0architectural approach with an integrated\u00a0open platform, something that will have a\u00a0significant impact on businesses, operators\u00a0and developers, helping to position the\u00a0platform globally. Another major innovation is\u00a0an innovation framework for a more globally\u00a0competent European market whereby mobile\u00a0applications can take advantage of existing\u00a0standards and initiatives and link these benefits\u00a0for mobile software development with universal\u00a0access to operator services. For developers,\u00a0mobile applications and services will be easier\u00a0to implement and for service consumers those\u00a0mobile applications and services will be more\u00a0trustworthy and of higher quality. Service\u00a0providers will benefit from being able to provide\u00a0their capabilities as plug-in.

DEMONSTRATION AND STANDARDISATION<\/p>\n

Among the demonstrations was m-ticketing\u00a0\u2013 the SEMOSA SIRSP profile \u2013 that enables\u00a0tourists to get access to any event using\u00a0SEMOSA services if the tourist has previously\u00a0bought the ticket using the application. This\u00a0is very simple and only requires the tourist to\u00a0pass the smartphone over an NFC reader for\u00a0access. No wait, no queues. Easy and quick.\u00a0Using the SEMOSA SIRSP profile the user can\u00a0use the purchased virtual ticket, in this case amuseum ticket, to access the museum.<\/p>\n

Among the contributions made by SEMOSA to\u00a0standardisation is documentation the GSMA\u00a0Mobile NFC FTP project that primarily aims to\u00a0accelerate the commercial launch of interoperable\u00a0services based on NFC SIM cards. SEMOSA\u00a0has also contributed to legacy contactless\u00a0specifications (ISO\/IEC), NFC specifications\u00a0(ISO\/IEC), specifications for the connection of a\u00a0secure (or non-secure) element to the contactless\u00a0front-end (CLF) or NFC Controller (ETSI TS, ISO\/IEC) and to the updated NFC Handset APIs &\u00a0Requirements (Version 3.0).<\/p>\n

EXPLOITATION PROSPECTS<\/p>\n

Vector, one of the consultancy leaders in the\u00a0Spanish IT Market, is integrating SEMOSA\u00a0results into its solution for identifying users\/customers from the Mobile domain, such as\u00a0Parques Reunidos, which wants to enable\u00a0its customers to buy online a \u2018Speedy Pass\u2019\u00a0that can help them bypass a queue. Another\u00a0development sees an e-Vending proposal\u00a0for McDonald\u2019s enable customers to perform\u00a0pre-order using NFC technology. McDonald\u2019s\u00a0is currently evaluating this business proposal.<\/p>\n

Answare will use the results of SEMOSA to\u00a0develop TourKhana, an application focused on\u00a0the Tourism and Leisure sectors, to empower\u00a0the tourist assets of locations and cities by\u00a0providing an immersive tool for visitors. Not only\u00a0will this encourage the participation of citizens\u00a0and visitors in collaborative environments but\u00a0also puts a powerful promotional tool within the\u00a0reach of local and regional private businesses.<\/p>\n
